Acute Care

To address the acute mental health needs of children, Saint Clare’s provides:

Child/Adolescent Partial Hospital Program (CAPHP)
The Child/Adolescent Partial Hospital Program is a short-term program serving adolescents, aged 12 to 17 years, in need of an intensive, highly structured therapy program to help them and their families manage a serious behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric crisis. This program is designed to either prevent admission to an inpatient facility, or to transition young people recently discharged from psychiatric inpatient units back into their schools, community and family. The program is available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and is staffed by board certified psychologists, clinicians, behavioral health counselors and a registered nurse.

The Child/Adolescent Partial Hospital Program frequently accommodates young people who are transitioning back to their schools or communities with Intensive Outpatient Program hours after they have completed their Partial Hospital Program. These individuals may attend the program for three hours per day, up to five days a week.

For more information on the Child/Adolescent Partial Hospital Program, please call 973-299-5436.

Children’s Crisis Intervention Services (CCIS)
Children’s Crisis Intervention Services is an inpatient unit providing high quality and compassionate care for children and adolescents between 5 and 17 years of age who have been assessed to be in need of a safe and supportive, inpatient level of care.

Children’s Crisis Intervention Services is designated by the New Jersey Division of Child Behavioral Health Services as a 28-bed child and adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit. Children’s Crisis Intervention Services multidisciplinary treatment team – which includes board certified child psychiatrists, masters prepared clinicians, registered nurses, and bachelor level behavioral health counselors – works together to provide the best possible care and the safest environment for our patients. Patients are offered both individual and group therapies, and the individual’s family is actively involved in all aspects of the care provided. The services offered through the Children’s Crisis Intervention Services treatment program include medication and medication monitoring, discharge planning, and linking the patient and family to the appropriate services available.
