Center for the Protection of Children
Saint Clare's Center for the Protection of Children (CPC) provides comprehensive, community-based services for children and adults, in Morris and Sussex Counties, who are impacted by sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, trauma and violence. This program provides clinical services, prevention initiatives, advocacy, training and education on issues related to child abuse for parents, professionals and the community at large.
The Center for the Protection of Children does not take referrals from the community; they must come through the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS). The Center works closely with the Sussex and Morris County Prosecutor's Offices, DYFS, children's advocacy centers, multi-disciplinary teams, and other key providers to improve the delivery of services for child victims of abuse and violence.
Services include:
- Community Diagnostic and Treatment Program (CDTP) - specialized treatment services provided for child and adolescent victims of abuse, trauma and violence, and their families.
- Comprehensive Health Evaluations for Children (CHEC) - comprehensive health examinations for children entering foster homes within 30 days of placement. This comprehensive check-up includes physical, developmental, and psychological assessments which identify acute or chronic conditions, immunizations, and behavioral and developmental issues.
- Ginnie's House Children's Advocacy Center - a child-friendly setting where victims of child abuse, under the age of 17, can report abuse that has occurred in Sussex County and receive the medical care, counseling and other services they need.
