Saint Clare’s Behavioral Health Services offers community-based services that help residents of Morris and Sussex Counties to resolve an array of primary and associated mental health concerns. Our programs include:
Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT)
The Program for Assertive Community Treatment is a community-based program for adults with serious and persistent mental illness who require ongoing, intensive treatment. The Program for Assertive Community Treatment is built on the belief that people with mental illness should live and work in normal community settings. Its goal is to provide the assistance, support and services these individuals need to succeed. Implicit in the mission of the Program for Assertive Community Treatment is the conviction that serious mental illness does not erase the absolute right to human dignity and to self-determination. Through its efforts, the Program for Assertive Community Treatment seeks to bring about positive change and help individuals and their families lead more fulfilling and productive lives.
Program for Assertive Community Treatment services are delivered by a multidisciplinary team that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The team works in partnership with mental health consumers, family members and significant others, employers, health and mental health service providers, landlords, and other representatives of the community to help consumers to achieve community integration, enhance quality of life, prevent unnecessary psychiatric hospitalization, and maximize independence.

Wellness and Recovery Center (WRC)
The Wellness and Recovery Center at Saint Clare’s is a crisis intervention program designed to work with individuals experiencing distressing symptoms who are at risk of utilizing psychiatric emergency services. The program offers an alternative for a person experiencing a crisis situation to receive care in a setting that is separate from a medical facility. The Center operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
A multidisciplinary team provides services for a period of time that varies based on the individual. For some, one or two visits are sufficient, while for others the maximum enrollment period of 30 days is beneficial. In addition to crisis intervention and support, services may also include:
- Psychiatric evaluation/medication education and counseling
- Substance abuse assessment, if applicable
- Case management services
- Referral and linkage to community supports
- Family education and support
- Systems advocacy
- Peer support
The Wellness and Recovery Center ensures a timely response to individuals in need of crisis support while promoting the principles of wellness and recovery. Through early intervention, risk factors may be significantly reduced, and the development of more serious problems lessened.
Referrals may be made to the Wellness and Recovery Center by the individual in need, a provider, or a family member. The individual may be seen in the community or in the welcoming environment of the Center.
Individuals 18 years of age and older who are residents of Morris County are eligible for services. Services are scheduled according to an individual’s needs.
