Congregational Health Ministry
Healthcare and religion are natural allies, a reflection of the relationship of body and spirit. Saint Clare's works in concert with religious congregations in the community in a holistic approach to better health. The Congregational Health Ministry (CHM) provides education, guidance, support and resources to help faith communities develop and maintain a congregational health ministry. The CHM team works with pastors, nurses, and other interested members of each congregation to meet the spiritual and physical needs of their community.
Each faith community selects a committee of volunteer congregation members who meet regularly to assess the health needs of their congregations and determine how best to address those needs most effectively. Each faith community also has members who are nurses that work together to promote wellness within their faith community. These nurses visit congregation members in the hospital or at home and provide emotional, spiritual and educational support as needed. Together with Saint Clare's, these congregational volunteers and nurses identify needs and plan educational programs and health screenings for their faith community.
