Fashion Fight for Cancer Event Raises Funds for Cancer Care at Saint Clare's
October 3, 2010
Carmen, Justin, Anne, Mia and little Nicholas were just a few of the DePasquale family members who came together for Fashion Fight for Cancer on Oct. 3, 2010. The event was held under a tent at DePasquale the Spa in Morris Plains, N.J., and was worthy of being at New York City’s fashion week. Models strutted down the runway wearing clothes from Para L’elle and Ferality, and sporting hairdos created by the masterminds at DePasquale the Spa.

The more than $50,000 raised from this event will benefit Cancer Care at Saint Clare’s in memory of Dr. David DePasquale, who was a staff obstetrician-gynecologist at Saint Clare’s for 11 years.
Dr. DePasquale passed away from cancer at age 42 last October. Dr. Jennifer Angello, one of the many staff members who knew him, stood in front of the 460 patrons who attended and shared personal stories of their days together as residents. “He just picked her up, hugged her, twirled her around, put her back down and walked away,” Angello said of another doctor who walked onto the hospital floor. She let the crowd know what a charismatic person Dr. DePasquale was.
The Fashion Fight for Cancer event featured a red-carpet cocktail hour, runway show, silent auction and a raffle of $10,000. The salon was split into four different teams of seven stylists each. The winning team, Carmen’s Angels, won a trip of their choice to a beauty symposium in Miami or Las Vegas. The teams were judged on their interpretation of hair trends in Fall 2010. Caroline Manzo, one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, was on hand to judge the runway show.
Sponsors and devoted contributors donated goods, services and almost anything in between to this worthwhile event. Gourmet food was donated by the Brownstone in Paterson and cocktails were provided by Gallo Wines. A mink stole, donated by Shultz Furriers in Morristown, went home with a lucky winner as well as many other great prizes.
“On behalf of the DePasquale family, I am so grateful to all who came to support us,” said Justin DePasquale, co-owner of the spa. “I can’t think of a better way to pay tribute to my cousin David.”
