Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility Donates Toys to Saint Clare's
Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility, located in Annandale, New Jersey, donated hundreds of toys worth more than $1,500, to children at the Roberta C. Ferguson Pediatric Center as well as The Evelyn M. Spiro Pediatric Emergency Care Center, both located at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville. Toys will also be shared with other units benefiting children, including some departments in Behavioral Health.
The toy drive was started in December 2010 due to the efforts of Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility Senior Corrections Officer Kris Gordon, whose daughter was required to be hospitalized during the holidays and subsequently received toys from other donations. Officer Gordon decided to begin a toy drive at the Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility, which has between 250-300 officers. The officers have shared their toy drive with different hospitals each year, and Saint Clare’s was the beneficiary of the 2012 toy drive.
“Saint Clare’s is thankful for the support of gifts like these that benefit some of our youngest patients,” said Jeffrey Lamie, executive director and chief development officer at Saint Clare’s Foundation. “Our community is incredibly supportive of Saint Clare’s and the care it provides and gifts like these, especially at the holidays, are very beneficial for our patients.”
