Saint Clare's 12th Annual Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness to be Held September 22
5K Event Will Be Held at the Rockaway Townsquare
DENVILLE, NJ – September 12, 2013 – The Saint Clare’s Foundation 2013 Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the Rockaway Townsquare in Rockaway, NJ and is sponsored by ADD Systems. The 5K (3 mile) event, now in its twelfth year, supports breast cancer diagnosis and treatment at Saint Clare’s Health System. The proceeds from this year’s event will support the renovation of the existing Women’s Health Center at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville.
“In our now twelfth year, the Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness has become a community tradition,” said Saint Clare’s Foundation Executive Director Jeff Lamie. “Please consider joining one of the many teams that will be participating in this great event on September 22nd and support the treatment of cancer in our community.”
Rockaway Mayor Michael Dachisen will officiate at the Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and there will be a Survivor Recognition Ceremony beginning at 8 a.m. The 5K Walk begins at 8:30 a.m., with a Pink Ribbon Cutting to kick-off the start of the 5K event at the starting location at the upper level parking lot near JC Penney. Additionally, the 2013 Walk is dedicated in loving memory of Mary Mulholland.
In 2012, there were more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. Saint Clare’s Foundation seeks to help increase this number through its annual Walk. Over the past eleven years, the Walk has succeeded in raising more than $1,000,000 gross in support of Cancer Care at Saint Clare’s programs and services at Saint Clare's Health System.
