The Saint Clare’s Foundation geared up for the 10th Annual Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness to support breast cancer diagnosis and treatment at Saint Clare’s Health System with a Team Captain Kick-off Reception. The event was held on July 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and hosted by Walk Presenting Sponsor TD Bank at their Denville branch. Over 50 participants attended and pre-registered their teams to participate in the Walk, which will take place on September 18, 2011.
During the event, a touching program was held, including various speakers who are influential in this year’s Walk, which marks the tenth year of this special event. Donita Judge, Esq. and Nancy McKinley, Co-Chairs of the Walk committee, welcomed the attendees and shared their enthusiasm on the importance of joining this year’s Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness and helping the cause to support breast cancer awareness and treatment. Ruth Wilson, former Walk committee Chair and a member of the Saint Clare’s Foundation Board of Trustees, spoke about how she became involved with Saint Clare’s Foundation and the Walk. Michele Rodger, author of the book, “Scottish Gem,” also shared her passion for helping those with loved ones who have been struck by cancer; Rodger’s book is a tribute to her sister-in-law who passed away from breast cancer, written with the aspiration to keep her memory alive and to help other families who are battling cancer.
