DENVILLE, NJ – September 23, 2013 – Saint Clare’s Foundation held its twelfth annual Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness, which supported breast cancer diagnosis and treatment at Saint Clare’s Health System. The 5K (3 mile) event, which was held on Sunday, September 22 near the JCPenney at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall, raised more than $103,000 and drew a crowd of more than 1,000 participants.  The 2013 Walk was dedicated in loving memory of Mary Mulholland.

Now in its 12th year, Saint Clare’s Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness has raised more than $1,000,000, which supports breast cancer diagnosis and treatment at Saint Clare’s Health System.  The proceeds from this year’s event will support the renovation of the existing Women’s Health Center at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville.

“We are pleased that we can honor so many breast cancer survivors at the Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness,” said Leslie D. Hirsch, president and chief executive officer at Saint Clare’s Health System.  “Through the funds raised for this event, we hope even more of the public will become knowledgeable about breast cancer so we can continue to create a healthier community in the area we serve.”

Additionally, Karen Bott-Kelly received special recognition by receiving this year’s Mary Mulholland Spirit Award for outstanding leadership and support of Saint Clare’s Health System.

The event was sponsored by Title Sponsor ADD Systems, Presenting Sponsors DEPASQUALE The Spa and The Walking Company, Media Sponsor WMTR/WDHA, and Hilton Garden Inn in Rockaway, Rockaway Township, and Rockaway Townsquare Mall.

Donations may continue to be made at www.saintclaresfoundation.org/Walk throughout the month of October, which is national Breast Cancer Awareness month.
