DENVILLE, NJ – May 14, 2013 – Saint Clare’s Health System culinary professionals will compete against four other teams from the healthcare industry at the Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF) 2013 Culinary Competition at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana on Friday, June 7, as part of the 2013 AHF Annual Conference.

Saint Clare’s Health System’s Joanne McMillian, MBA, RD, food and nutrition director, and Aatul Jain, retail operation manager and chef, will feature their Jazzed Quartet, which consists of Potato Pearl Wild Mushroom Roll - Super Food Pilaf of Quinoa, Edamame, Pomegranate - Sorrel Pesto - Whisper of Rosemary Glaze.

Additionally, Saint Clare’s Retail Operation Manager and Chef Aatul Jain will also be presented with the AHF Future Horizons Award, which recognizes operator members who have practiced in the healthcare foodservice industry for five years or less, who are new to management and who demonstrate a desire for future growth through contributions to their hospitals or community.  The award will be presented during the AHF Annual Conference.

Saint Clare’s was awarded the Bronze Medal in last year’s national competition at the third annual Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF) Culinary Competition at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami, Florida, on June 21, 2012.

The five competing teams will demonstrate their exceptional culinary talent and creativity, representative of the healthcare industry.  Saint Clare’s will compete against teams from The Valley Hospital (Ridgewood, NJ), Overlook Medical Center (Summit, NJ), Centra (Lynchburg, VA), and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare (Elmhurst, IL).
