Saint Clare's Foundation to Hold Annual Spring Gala on March 8

Event honors The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, DePasquale The Spa and Dr. Jean-Paul Bonnet for their contributions to Saint Clare’s and the community

Denville, NJ – February 14, 2013 – Saint Clare’s Annual Spring Gala, the Foundation’s largest and most important fundraiser – raising vital funds that enable Saint Clare’s to provide area residents the highest quality healthcare possible – will be held in one month on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, New Jersey.

This year, Saint Clare’s Foundation will be awarding The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their outstanding dedication and support to Saint Clare’s, as well as recognizing DePasquale The Spa with the 2013 Leadership Award and Dr. Jean-Paul Bonnet with the 2013 Physician Humanitarian Award.

“The Gala is an opportunity for Saint Clare’s to recognize the commitment that our honorees have made to Saint Clare’s,” said Leslie D. Hirsch, president and CEO of Saint Clare’s Health System. “Saint Clare’s provides high quality and advanced care, and through the support of our Gala we are able to further our mission to the communities we serve.”

Lifetime Achievement Award
The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother have been called pioneers – setting out in 1895 to establish Saint Francis Health resort.  In 1940, they bought the land that Saint Clare’s Denville hospital sits on today for $12,500. Through their determination, and cooperation with the auxiliary, the hospital was opened 60 years ago this year, on September 24, 1953. The heritage and pioneering spirit of these Sisters, including Sister Mary Urban Harrer, SSM, established and grew what ultimately became Saint Clare’s Health System, which continues their tradition of caring for the community. Honoring their service, Saint Clare’s is pleased to present the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award to The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother.

2013 Leadership Award
In northern New Jersey, the DePasquale name is renowned – as business leaders in beauty and spa services, philanthropists and visionaries. Today, DePasquale Companies, the beauty empire started by Carmen DePasquale in the 1960’s, encompasses five subsidiaries: DePasquale The Spa, DePasquale Salon Systems, artistic academy of Hair Design and aesthetics, ECRU New York, and Cures by Avancé. Their generosity and leadership started a new tradition: Fashion Fight for a CURE – a red-carpet cocktail hour, a runway show, and a silent auction which benefits Cancer Care at Saint Clare’s. Saint Clare’s is pleased to present the 2013 Leadership Award to DePasquale The Spa.

2013 Physician Humanitarian Award
Dr. Jean-Paul Bonnet believes in service – to his patients, community and the world. Access to care is a common theme in his work outside of his office – whether through his newly opened Franklin Square Health and Wellness Center in Sussex County or his work in Haiti, Dr. Bonnet works to ensure that those that need healing are able to reach the help they need. Through his work with the Healing Haiti Fund, Dr. Bonnet gives new lives to retired American school buses with the SantéBus, French for “Health Bus”, which brings mobile medical clinics and transportation to the regions of Haiti most in need of help. For his efforts in healing, Saint Clare’s is pleased to present him with the 2013 Physician Humanitarian Award.

Also featured at the 2013 Annual Spring Gala will be live entertainment by The Infernos, known as “America’s #1 Show Band,” whose lineup includes Kenny Simmons, former member of Motown Records three-time Grammy Award-winning group, The Commodores.

The event is organized by the Gala committee, which is led by Gala Co-Chairs Gale Bott and Ann McManus, Saint Clare’s Foundation Board Members, who volunteer their time to benefit Saint Clare’s Health System.  “The event is a fun and exciting way to support Saint Clare’s Health System with an evening of music, dancing and bidding with a variety of items from exotic vacations to the latest electronic devices,” said Ann McManus.

Gale Bott added, “In addition to recognizing our award recipients for their contributions to Saint Clare’s, the funds earned from this event benefit Saint Clare’s and their commitment to extraordinary family-centered care and the health of our community.”

In advance of the event, the online auction was live on February 4, and the community may preview and place bids by visiting www.saintclaresfoundation.org/auction through March 7 – bidding will continue at the event on March 8.  Additionally, the Saint Clare’s Foundation is sponsoring a 50/50 Cash Raffle for this year’s event with proceeds to benefit Saint Clare’s Health System. Tickets are $50 each and only 500 will be sold, with a total of three winning tickets. First prize winner will receive 25% of the proceeds (up to $6,250), second prize will receive 15% of the proceeds (up to $3,750) and third prize will receive 10% of the proceeds (up to $2,500).
