Saint Clare's Foundation to Hold Annual Spring Gala on May 4

Event honors Emergency Physicians of Saint Clare’s, LLC, Dr. Alma Ratcliffe and Dr. Robert and Mary Mulholland for their contributions to Saint Clare’s and the community

April 3, 2012

Saint Clare’s Annual Spring Gala, the Foundation’s largest and most important fundraiser – raising unrestricted funds that enable Saint Clare’s to provide area residents the highest quality healthcare possible – will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, New Jersey.

This year, Saint Clare’s Foundation will be awarding Emergency Physicians of Saint Clare's, LLC with the 2012 Leadership Award, Dr. Alma S. Ratcliffe with the 2012 Physician Humanitarian Award and Dr. Robert and Mary Mulholland with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their outstanding dedication and support to Saint Clare’s.

“The Gala is an opportunity for Saint Clare’s to recognize the commitment that our honorees have made to Saint Clare’s,” said Leslie D. Hirsch, president and CEO of Saint Clare’s Health System. “Saint Clare’s provides high quality and advanced care, and through the support of our Gala we are able to further our mission to the communities we serve.”

2012 Leadership Award
Saint Clare’s Foundation will present the 2012 Leadership Award to the Emergency Physicians of Saint Clare’s, LLC, which is led by Rohan Somar, MD, FACEP, FAAEM, Chairman / Medical Director of Emergency Department. The group was founded in 2002 with a mission to provide the highest quality emergency care to the community.  With 24 doctors and 10 physician assistants, they provide 24-hour clinical coverage to Saint Clare’s emergency departments in Denville, Dover and Sussex. The 2012 Leadership Award is a statement of their outstanding philanthropic support and commitment to the mission and spirit of Saint Clare’s Health System.

2012 Physician Humanitarian Award
The 2012 Physician Humanitarian Award will be presented to Alma S. Ratcliffe, MD, Executive Vice President, Medical Affairs at Saint Clare’s Health System.  With more than 20 years at Saint Clare’s Health System, Dr. Ratcliffe exemplifies the principles and values of a humanitarian. She has worked tirelessly in quality, patient safety, medical staff affairs, and made many improvements that have recognized Saint Clare’s as a leader in healthcare in the community. Saint Clare’s recognizes Dr. Ratcliffe with the 2012 Physician Humanitarian Award for her outstanding volunteer service, charity, compassion for patients and her devotion to Saint Clare’s Health System.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Saint Clare’s will recognize Dr. Robert and Mary Mulholland with this special Lifetime Achievement Award for their dedication to Saint Clare’s Health System. Mary Mulholland has worked passionately for the community for more than 50 years through her work at Saint Clare’s Health System and the Auxiliary, and by leading the crusade against drug and alcohol abuse. Her work honors Robert, her late husband of 38 years, and has inspired her six children and 17 grandchildren. This special Lifetime Achievement Award is in recognition of Mary’s accomplishments, her tenacity in raising awareness for those in need, her impact as a role model for younger generations, and as a special tribute to Dr. Mulholland, who gave his time and love to those in need.

Also featured at the 2012 Annual Spring Gala will be live entertainment by The Infernos, known as “America’s #1 Show Band,” whose lineup includes Kenny Simmons, former member of Motown Records three-time Grammy Award-winning group, The Commodores.

The event is organized by the Gala committee, which is led by Gala Co-Chairs Gale Bott and Ann McManus, Saint Clare’s Foundation Board Members, who volunteer their time to benefit Saint Clare’s Health System.  “The event is a fun and exciting way to support Saint Clare’s Health System with an evening of music, dancing and bidding with a variety of items from exotic vacations to the latest electronic devices,” said Ann McManus.

Gale Bott added, “In addition to recognizing our award recipients for their contributions to Saint Clare’s, the funds earned from this event benefit Saint Clare’s and their commitment to extraordinary family-centered care and the health of our community.”

In advance of the event, the online auction will be live on April 4, and the community may preview and place bids by visiting through May 3 – bidding will continue at the event on May 4.  Additionally, the Saint Clare’s Foundation is sponsoring a 50/50 Cash Raffle for this year’s event with proceeds to benefit Saint Clare’s Health System. Tickets are $100 each and only 1,000 will be sold, with a total of nine winning tickets. Top prize winner can receive up to $25,000.
