Seasoned Healthcare Executive to Lead Saint Clare’s Financial Operations
Saint Clare’s Health System announced today that Frederick (Fred) J. Hammond, Jr., a seasoned healthcare leader with a proven track record of success, has been appointed as the new Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Hammond joined Saint Clare’s on March 30 after completing his tenure at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center (Brooklyn, NY), where he has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the past five years.
“Fred brings more than three decades of extensive, hands-on leadership experience in healthcare finance and operations to this important role,” said Leslie D. Hirsch, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer for Saint Clare’s Health System. “He has effectively functioned in very complex and challenging healthcare settings. This makes him a great fit for Saint Clare’s, especially as we continue to navigate a complex healthcare environment in New Jersey and a federal economy mired in recession and uncertainty.”
Prior to his current position, Hammond served in various other roles at SUNY Downstate. Before SUNY Downstate, he spent 10 years with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), where he served as Corporate Controller, Vice President of Finance and Treasurer, and then seven years as Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance. He also served as Director of Finance at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.
Hammond holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master’s of business administration degree in finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
