DENVILLE, N.J. (Nov. 1, 2012) – Despite efforts to reach an agreement, Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), Saint Clare’s Health System (SCHS) and Ascension Health Care Network (AHCN) have decided to end negotiations for the transfer of ownership of Saint Clare’s. In March 2012, CHI and SCHS announced they were engaging in exclusive negotiations with Ascension Health Care Network (AHCN) for the transfer of ownership of SCHS to best meet the needs of the communities SCHS serves.
CHI remains committed to Saint Clare’s until new ownership is secured. The overarching interest of CHI and the Saint Clare’s board continues to be ensuring the presence of the ministry into the future. The search for new ownership for Saint Clare’s begins immediately.
The March 2012 decision to pursue new ownership was based on the need to better meet the demands and requirements of the communities served by Saint Clare’s and the recognition that, as health care reform rapidly evolves, it is critical for health care providers to be part of regional networks of coordinated health care delivery organizations including physicians, health facilities, payers and other related health care entities.
CHI and SCHS continue to explore opportunities that exist for regionally clinically integrated networks of providers and payers in New Jersey.
