February 4, 2011
Saint Clare’s Health System invites children to our annual Teddy Bear Hospital on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Children, ages toddler through 10, can bring their teddy bears or favorite stuffed animals to Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville to learn about medical equipment and procedures to become comfortable with visiting a hospital.
“We want children to feel comfortable within a hospital setting and feel like the Teddy Bear Hospital provides a fun and enjoyable way to show that hospitals are here to help,” says Beth Waters, Shift Supervisor Emergency Department & Pediatrics at Saint Clare’s Health System. “Additionally, children are excited to learn about health and wellness tips thought the interactive displays that we have arranged.”
Nurses and physicians from Saint Clare’s Health System will offer demonstrations of simple medical procedures and treatments for children so they learn that visiting a hospital isn’t so scary. Stuffed animal treatments will include: splints for broken arms or legs, stitches for cuts or boo-boo’s, breathing better with asthma and learning about germs and immunizations.
