Saint Clare’s hospitals rank among top performing hospitals in the country in 2010 Leapfrog Hospital Survey
Saint Clare’s Health System is pleased to announce that its acute care hospitals in Denville, Dover, and Sussex have ranked among the top hospitals in the country in the 2010 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, considered the gold standard for comparing hospitals’ performance on the national standards of safety, quality, and efficiency that are most relevant to consumers and purchasers of care.
“We are extremely proud of the dedication and hard work of our physicians, nurses, and quality and patient safety improvement teams,” said Leslie D. Hirsch, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Saint Clare’s Health System. “This recognition is a true testament to our efforts to provide the best possible care to patients in our community, and our commitment to continuous quality improvement.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Survey is a national, evidence-based survey of hospital safety, quality, and efficiency. Annually, over 1,200 hospitals report to the Leapfrog Hospital Survey on certain aspects of care found to be of most importance to consumers. The survey has three overall focus areas: how patients fare, resources used to care for those patients, and management practices that promote safety and quality.
The Leapfrog Group offers the Leapfrog Hospital Recognition Program, a pay-for-performance program, to help health plans recognize and reward hospitals that demonstrate excellence or improvement in the performance areas of patient safety, quality, and resource utilization. As a result of the 2010 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, in collaboration with the Leapfrog Group, will recognize Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville, Saint Clare’s Hospital/Dover General, and Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex.
“We are honored to receive this recognition. It is a validation of our collaborative efforts in maintaining clinical excellence and delivering the highest quality health care possible,” said Norma Atienza, Director of Clinical Quality and Epidemiology at Saint Clare’s.
