Meet Saint Clare’s nursing leadership team.

Debbie Regen

BSN, MS, RN, Vice President-Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
Debbie has been a part of Saint Clare's Health System since 1979 and has extensive clinical nursing experience having worked for many years in various patient care areas as a Registered Nurse. Over the years she has also held various leadership roles including Clinical Pathways Coordinator, Quality Management Clinical Performance Improvement Specialist, Manager-Special Projects and Director of Central Scheduling. Most recently, Debbie has served as Executive Director-Nursing with overall responsibility for the daily operations of the nursing service throughout Saint Clare’s. In this role she has demonstrated outstanding leadership and has achieved many significant accomplishments some of which include leading and re-energizing the Nurse Practice Council and unit-specific Nurse Practice and Education Councils, leading the Pathways to Excellence journey and providing strong leadership of various clinical nursing quality and operational performance improvement initiatives.
Debbie is a graduate of William Paterson University where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and is also a graduate of the College of Saint Elizabeth having completed a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration. She is a member of the Organization of Nurse Executives, American College of Healthcare Executives and the NJ State Nurses Association.

Jan Bednar

BSN, MS, RN, Executive Director of Emergency Medical Services, Perioperative Services and Environmental Services
As the Executive Director Emergency, Environmental & Surgical Services at Saint Clare’s Health System, Jan is responsible for the overall operations and financial performance for Saint Clare’s Health System’s three Emergency Departments – including the pre-hospital Emergency Medical Services, Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Specialty Care Transport Units, and Ambulance Transport Services – as well as for Environmental Services, Surgical Services, Saint Clare’s Training Center, and Clinics.

Jan has been employed at Saint Clare’s since 1990, when she began her career at Saint Clare’s as a staff nurse in the Emergency Department.  During her tenure, she has held various positions and leadership roles within the health system before becoming Executive Director of Emergency Medical Services, Environmental Services, and Surgical Services in 2009. These positions include Patient Care Manager of the Denville Emergency Department, Manager of Emergency Services, and Director of Emergency Services.

Jan holds a Bachelor’s in Nursing and a Master’s of Science in Health Care Management from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey. Jan is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the New Jersey Organization of Nurse Executives, and the Emergency Nurses Association. Jan is a Certified Emergency Nurse, and is also certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC).
