Saint Clare's To Unveil Roberta C. Ferguson Pediatric Center on April 30

04/23/2008

Advanced Pediatrics Center Brings Advanced Healthcare to Region’s Children

As part of its continued commitment to provide quality, individualized and compassionate healthcare to its community, Saint Clare’s Health System, a member of Catholic Health Initiatives, announced today that they will mark the opening of The Roberta C. Ferguson Pediatrics Center at Saint Clare’s Hospital with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville on April 30 from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include speeches from Robert Lanik, Saint Clare’s Interim President; Thomas G. Ferguson, founding donor of The Roberta C. Ferguson Pediatrics Center; and Dr. Sandy Waran, Medical Director of Children’s Neurology and Epilepsy Center at Saint Clare’s. Festivities will conclude with a tour of the new facility and refreshments. The event is open to the public.

The new Roberta C. Ferguson Pediatrics Center is the latest project supported by the Miracles: Saint Clare’s Vision for the Future capital campaign. This state-of-the-art facility will provide the highest levels of pediatric care and medical technology and diagnostics to the region’s children. The project was made possible through the generous support of Thomas Ferguson, the center’s founding donor and long time friend of Saint Clare’s.

Ferguson named the center in memory of his beloved wife, Roberta, who worked as a pediatric nurse for many years. “Roberta was a remarkable woman and children had a special place in her heart, so it is only fitting that this center serves as a living memorial to demonstrate the care, compassion and dedication that was so much a part of her life,” said Ferguson at the Center's groundbreaking in March 2007.

The 6,755 square foot Roberta C. Ferguson Pediatric Center will include 14 private and semi-private rooms with state-of-the-art medical equipment (including wireless electroencephalogram (EEG) technology that allows kids with monitors to leave their rooms to visit the play area); a new reception and welcome area, a functional treatment room for minor procedures that can be done on the unit, a Family Center and meeting room for private consultations; and a multi-purpose interactive play area made possible through grant from Toys R’ Us and the Starlight Starbright Foundation.

In addition to the gift from the Ferguson family, major gifts to The Roberta C. Ferguson Pediatrics Center include gifts from the Saint Clare’s Auxiliary/Denville and Boonton Township; Candor Construction; the Edward and Stella Van Houten Memorial Fund; Pediatric Neurology Associates, PA; Mrs. Ruth M. Hardin; Pfizer; Mr. and Mrs. Owen Rankin; and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schautz.
