If you're one of the more than five million Americans suffering from a chronic or non-healing wound, The Center for Wound Healing at Saint Clare’s, operated in conjunction with New York Hyperbaric, Inc., offers comprehensive wound care services, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, for the treatment of chronic wounds.
Chronic and non-healing wounds usually result from conditions such as peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, neuropathy, pressure ulcers, radiation and other burns. Utilizing the latest procedures in wound treatment, a specialized staff develops individualized treatment plans for each patient and works with the primary care physician to resolve the problem.
The Center offers both a comprehensive evaluation by a panel of medical specialists — from vascular and plastic surgeons to endocrinologists and podiatrists — and state-of-the-art treatment, including oxygen therapy in one of its two hyperbaric chambers. An individual treatment plan is determined for each patient. Among the therapies offered are:
- Hyperbaric Therapy: Patients breathe 100 percent oxygen at increased atmospheric pressures, raising oxygen levels in the body, thus promoting healing and fighting of infection.
- Wound Debridement: Removal of non-healthy tissue to enhance the growth of healthy tissue.
- Specialized Dressings: Wound care products chosen for the individual patient to provide the right environment for healing.
