Saint Clare's offers an extensive list of cancer support groups, designed to offer moral, emotional, and informational support to cancer patients and survivors, their caregivers, and families. A sampling of these groups includes:
Living with Cancer
A free support group for cancer patients and their families that provides an opportunity for individuals to gain a better knowledge of cancer, share common experiences and concerns, and actively discuss ways to cope with a cancer diagnosis. This group meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Saint Clare's Hospital/Denville.
Together
An evening support group designed to help breast cancer patients. A similar daytime group is also available. This group meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Saint Clare's Hospital/Denville. A Daytime Breast Cancer Support Group also meets second and fourth Monday of every month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dircks Conference Room at the Cancer Care at Saint Clare's outpatient center adjacent to Saint Clare's Hospital/Denville.
Us TOO©
Us TOO© is a national prostate cancer support group program with group meetings at Saint Clare's. The group allows prostate cancer patients to share common experiences, learn more about the disease, and learn ways to develop an improved lifestyle. This group meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Saint Clare's Hospital/Denville.
Children's Groups
Saint Clare's offers several support group programs for children, including a unique group that allows children, ages 6-12, to learn coping skills through expressive therapies. This group meets as needed for eight weekly sessions. Call for more information.
The Bereavement Group
This is a support group program for those who have lost friends or relatives to cancer. The group meets four times a year for eight weekly sessions. A Children's Bereavement Group is also available. Call for start dates and to register.
Look Good…Feel Better
Sponsored by the Morris County Unit of the American Cancer Society, this group teaches women how to look and feel their best while undergoing cancer treatment. Call for further information, dates, times, and locations.
