If you do not have health insurance, you may be eligible for New Jersey Family Care (NJFC). This program is a federal and state-funded health insurance program created to help New Jersey's uninsured children and certain low-income parents and guardians to have affordable health coverage. It is not a welfare program. NJFC is for families who do not have available or affordable employer insurance and cannot afford to pay the high cost of private health insurance. For more information, call 1-800-701-0710, Mondays and Thursdays (8 a.m. 8 p.m.) or Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (8 a.m. 5 p.m.) Multi-lingual operators available. New Jersey WIC Services provides supplemental nutritious foods to pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to the age of five. WIC services include nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding promotion and support, immunization screening and healthcare referrals. You may be eligible for WIC if you are pregnant (up to six weeks after delivery), postpartum (up to six months after delivery), breastfeeding (up to one year if you continue breastfeeding), an infant, or a child under five years old, and meet the following conditions:
- Have a nutrition or medically related health risk
- Live in New Jersey (proof of residency required)
- Meet income guidelines (proof of income required).
